The Alps can be an unpredictable place at times - a perfectly peaceful and calm sunny day in the foothills can turn into a blizzard at the top of the mountain.
I did a hike from Wasserauen up to the Meglisalp and Mesmer in Switzerland on a day in May 2002, when the snow was still in abundance - again I was among the first hikers to brave it out this year, as I left my fresh footprints in the untouched snow.
A sunny day turned cloudy, but the world was back to normality when I returned to the valley.
