The Brandner Valley is located in the Austrian State of Vorarlberg - the most westerly State in Austria - bordered by Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
The Brandner Valley is small compared to its neighbours in the Montafon / Silvretta region, but relatively unknown and undiscovered, making it a gem to get away from it all. The Lake Luener region, just below the Glacier at the start of the valley, is one of the most scenic parts of the valley. Lake Luener is a natural lake that has had its water capacity increased by a dam built in the 1960's.
At the end of May there was still plenty of snow around, which limited the hiking possibilities, as walking in deep snow for hours is not exactly fun - Raquettes or Ski's would be more fitting. The hike was strenuous, but lots of fun in a very scenic region.
