Gauer Valley, Montafon, Austria - June 2002

The Gauer Valley is located in the Austrian State of Vorarlberg - the most westerly State in Austria - bordered by Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

The Gauer Valley is small compared to its neighbours in the Montafon / Silvretta region, but relatively unknown and undiscovered, making it a gem to get away from it all. The Landmark of the region is the 3 Towers high above the valley.

At the start of June this year there was still too much snow still around to attempt climbing to the top of these peaks (Three Towers), as the snow and ice make such sharp (needle like) peaks too hazardous. These can be conquered in July / August when the snow has retreated

It was a nice hike up to 2000m, to the Lindauer Huette and beyond.
