Lake Constance was created some 15,000 years ago during the last Ice Age, where the ernormous Rhine glacier excavated the Lake Constance basin, which is up to 254m deep in places. At the northen edge of the glacier, the scree in the end moraine piled up to form Drumlin hills like the Bodanrueck.
Lake Constance is an ideal location for cycling, as there are hundreds of Kilometers of Cycle Paths off the beaten track, away from the traffic.
I cycled the 'Ueberlinger See' part of Lake Constance on a hot afternoon in June 2002. Due to the Glacier activity mentioned above, this part of the lake shores are much hilly than those further to the south of the lake.
